At home, at work or in a car park

Give the exact parking position and explain how the technician can reach the vehicle. For an underground or multi-storey space, include the level, entrance and any height restriction. If the bonnet or battery access is blocked, or the vehicle is locked, mention that before the visit is arranged.

The vehicle matters

Tell us if the request is for a car, van or another vehicle and whether you know the battery system voltage. For a hybrid or electric vehicle, give the exact model and follow its manufacturer’s instructions. A discharged low-voltage battery is different from an empty traction battery; do not assume a conventional jump start will solve either problem.

If the problem is more than a flat battery

A jump start does not repair a failed alternator, defective starter or other mechanical fault. Explain any warning lights or recent battery problems so the team can discuss the suitable service. Where recovery may be needed instead, provide the garage or destination details and obtain confirmation of the proposed next step.

BEFORE YOUR COLLECTION

Your questions, answered.

Can I request a jump start in a private car park?

Yes. Share the entrance instructions and any ticket, permit or barrier information. Assistance depends on safe access to the vehicle.

Will a jump start fix my battery permanently?

It may get a suitable vehicle started, but it does not establish why the battery discharged. A recurring problem needs testing and any necessary repair or replacement.
