Confirm the real vehicle entrance

A postcode may point to the front of a building when vehicles enter at the rear. Give the entrance road and any gate, barrier or height limit. In a multi-storey car park, include the level and parking position. Ask the operator about recovery access if necessary; do not assume a flatbed truck can follow the route your car used.

Agree who will release the car

For a private sale, make sure the seller knows the collection date and has authority to hand over the vehicle. For a garage or auction, check payment and release requirements first. Identify the person with the keys and a contact who can answer if the entrance or vehicle position needs clarification.

Prepare the receiving address

Provide a postcode or full address, the name of the receiver and any opening-hour limit. A workshop needs to agree that it can receive a non-runner. Explain a slope, private lane or restricted unloading area before the transport is booked. Cardiff event closures and local works can also affect a preferred approach.

Compare quotes for the same job

Give each provider the same vehicle condition, loading information and journey. Ask what the price includes and whether any known access issue changes it. Confirm the date, payment arrangement and collection plan before making commitments to a seller or garage. A preferred date remains a request until accepted.

BEFORE YOUR COLLECTION

Your questions, answered.

What should I send for an initial transport quote?

Send both postcodes, the make and model, running and wheel condition, preferred date and any known access restrictions.

Can transport be arranged from a low-height car park?

It may require a separate access or extraction plan. Give the car park, level, height sign and car position so the team can assess feasibility.
